Life Goez On
(PowerKingdom)
It's been ages since I've heard something from Tashan. His last album For The Sake Of Love was released nearly 10 years ago in 1993. So hearing Tashan's voice again is always a welcome pleasure.
As far as I know he seems to have some difficulties to find a label for his music, which I really don't understand and with Expansion's release of a Best Of album recently there's certainly a market for him.
But like the title of his recent album says Life Goez On and there are some really good songs here like the great midtempo After Hours that's in tradition of All I Ever Do or Been A Long Time. Or take Cherish, a fine ballad, Me For You, Because Of You or Right Attitude.
Sometimes Life Goez On is lacking the larger recording budget a major label can offer in some way (just remember the string section on the For The Sake Of Love album) and there are some songs like If You Were Mine or First I Wanna that sounds a little too uninspired to my ears and a little too modern/urbanlike.
As a whole Life Goez On is certainly a must have for those already converted to Tashan's voice and sound but it's not the great album one would have expected ten years after the great For The Sake Of Love and it lacks that certain something to make it a real good and great album, so I guess it won't win him many new fans.
