Dr Bob Jones And Lofty
Moving On
(CD Chilli Funk)
With an impressive release schedule of late, it's time for another best of compilation on one of the UK's finest soulful house label, Chilli Funk. And that's just what Moving On is, a great piece of evidence of the quality music Chilli Funk has released in recent times.
All songs here were either written, produced or remixed by Chillifunk's head honchos Dr Bob Jones and Lofty and some of the songs has already been praised on this site when they had been released as 12" singles.
So if you missed the vinyl releases or just prefer to have your music on CD then you finally get the goodies chock-a-block. There's Ultra Naté's soulful return with Feel Love, Notenshun feat. Sandy Mill with Soul Music, Notenshun with the instrumental Unfinished Business, East West Connection feat. Daniel Vacchio with Chilli Funk's 50th release High On Life and the EWC Remix of Jody Watley's Photographs.
Plus the ones that I must've missed like East West Connection feat. Sandy Mill with the title track of this compilation Moving On, Interns feat. Snowboy with the ultra funky Stripped Surgery Mix of It's About Time, Notenshun with Cantina and Chilli In Rio (that's what it'd sound like if London would be as hot and humid as Rio) or Universal Jones' Phoenix Rising, that has been previously available on Afroart Records.
And exclusively on this CD we get a collaboration with DJ Oji. Bob Jones recently sent the Interns instrumental of Soulfood to DJ Oji who got together with vocalist Una and recorded a vocal over the track renaming it Soul Underground (Fly With Me) due for release on Poji Records USA.
If the quality and soulful music on Moving On hasn't convinced you to get a copy, you're either deaf, dead or have no soul or you're just waiting for the extra added attraction that comes with this Chilli Funk release and that is a bonus remix CD of all songs done by the ubiquitous Liquid People. Nuff said.
