After a large amount of great 12" singles from Naked Music we finally get a full length album release from Blue 6, which is the brainchild of Jay Denes. You may remember the 1998 Om Records release by Naked Music NYC What's On Your Mind that was also written and produced by Jay Denes with Ada Dyer and Catherine Russell on vocal duty.
Blue 6 features different singer too. This time it's Catherine Russell again (on Very Good Friends, Music And Wine and Beautiful Tomorrow), Lisa Shaw (Let's Do It Together), Lysa (Sweeter Love, Love Yourself), Monique Bingham (Close To Home, Pure), Diva Blue (All I Need) and Eve Robinson (Grace, Come Inside). But due to Jay Denes magic production skills, the fact that we get real songs and the fact that the singer's voices don't sound too different, Beautiful Tomorrow sound very well rounded and offers great listening joy.
Like you may expect from Naked Musics 12" singles it's more of the sweet, seductive sounds that fall somewhere inbetween house and soul music. And it's very hard to pick out a standout song because they are all very good (ok, maybe the dub versions of Music And Wine and Pure are more like a extra offered bonus but they fit nicely into the rest).
The new year 2002 has just started and we already have a great release that certainly will appear in my top list at year's end!
