Angela Blair
Give Me Your Love
(CD White Rabbit Records)

With four tracks this is more an EP than an full length album. An EP is always a good opportunity to create some kind of media interest, if you're a "new" artist and haven't yet ten or more songs finished to record a whole album.
Angela Blair is not really a new kid on the block since she started playing piano and organ at the age of six and later learned to play violin too. In the early 90s she enjoyed some success as actor and singer but decided that she really didn't want to pursue a career at that time. But with the new century things changed and Angela started to make a name for herself in the local scene in Dallas, Texas.
As a result she has released this 4-track EP, which impresses with each song thanks to Angela's rich voice. The title track Give Me Your Love is a beautiful fingersnipping ballad written by her husband Ron Blair (who also wrote two of the other songs) and Stephen Lewis.
Rainy Daze is the highlight for me on this EP, a great soulful tune with a fine vocal performance by Angela.
I Love To Worship You is a nice piece of music but lacks something on the instrumental side. Whereas the aforementioned songs sounds pretty good though mainly based on electronic instruments I Love To Worship You sounds a little bit too simple and "cheap". Of course it's a question of money to include musicians with real instruments. But that's certainly something that would give Angela's music a further boost.
The seasonal standard Have Yourself A Merry Christmas gets a jazzy treatment which makes it even listenable at the beginning of summer.
All in all this is a good EP and makes you curious about things to come, especially if Angela and her production team invite a few other musicians into the studio to support them.
