Kenny Bobien
"Explosive," "Dynamic," "Exhilarating," "Soulful" and "Spiritual" describes the soaring tenor of singer, producer and songwriter Kenny Bobien! Singing since the age of three, this Newark NJ native won countless awards and honors in music during his high school years. Meeting tenor cohort, Eddie Stockley, he introduced Kenny to music producers (the late) Guy Vaughn and Sherick Guy.
Kenny thereafter signed to their production company, "The Fly Guys" as a vocalist. He joined Fly Guys group, "Def Con 4" signed to the Warner Brothers label. After an appearance on the Soul Train music program, the group disbanded in 1990. As a background vocalist, Kenny, along with Eddie brought the marriage of tenors to the attention of many artists and music producers. Continuing in the business, Kenny's work as a songwriter and vocalist was featured in the 1992 Motion Picture Soundtrack "Hanging With The Homeboys" in 1992. Traveling extensively in the U.S., Europe and Japan he has performed with a multitude of dance artists and major R&B acts such as Jennifer Holiday and Milira. Kenny has also performed live with Gospel Singers. Going solo in 1994, he recorded the R&B classic "You Are My Friend" that became a monumental hit. In the midstof the glory of Kenny's "Friends", he found time to back today's mega pop stars, Celine Dion, Taylor Dayne and as well as R&B legend Teddy Pendergrass. Currently riding the crest of being one of Underground Dance Music's leading stars, Kenny's promenade of hits march proudly in the dance community. No stranger to songwriting, he duly demonstrated this in his inspirational, "Rise Above The Storm," "Brighter Days" and "Let Me Show You" are among the many successful songs he has written. Multi-talented, Kenny's youthful, energetic
inventiveness is always expanding. His dreams are of winning the music industry's highest accolade, the Grammy. For Kenny, that's just the beginning! His latest single "Blessed" is a Dbl. 12" featuring remixes by Frankie Feliciano and Albert Menendez. This song is taken from his forthcoming debut solo album on SOUNDMEN On WAX titled "Blessed", due out late April 2000.
